Getting started
Start your 14-day trial: try the full plan before you pay
Every FlockConnect plan starts with a 14-day trial. You pick a plan on the billing page, Stripe Checkout collects a card without charging it that day, and your church gets full access to that plan's features for the whole trial. About three days before the end, account owners get a reminder email, and if no payment method is on file when the trial ends, the subscription is canceled rather than billed. Here is each step, from picking a plan to the last day.
Where do I start a trial?
Trials start on the billing page in your church settings. Billing is for account owners only and requires multi-factor authentication, so this is a page only you can act on. When your church has no live subscription, the page shows a plan picker. Every plan comes in a monthly or annual cadence, and current prices live on the pricing page.
Picking the plan is what starts the trial. Creating your FlockConnect account never asks for a card, and signup on its own does not start a subscription: the 14 days begin when you choose a plan and finish checkout. If you are not sure which size fits, the active-adult billing guide covers who counts toward your plan and the band each plan covers.
- Trials start from the plan picker on the billing page, which appears when your church has no live subscription.
- Signing up for FlockConnect requires no card. Starting a plan trial collects one at Stripe Checkout, with nothing charged that day.
- Every trial runs 14 days with full access to the chosen plan's features.
- Account owners get a reminder email about three days before the trial ends, with a link to the billing page.
- No payment method on file at trial end means the subscription is canceled, not charged.
- Switching plans, updating the card, and canceling all happen in the Stripe customer portal.
- Billing is owner-only and protected by multi-factor authentication.
What happens at Stripe Checkout?
Choosing a plan opens Stripe Checkout, where Stripe collects your card. Nothing is charged that day. The card is held for the end of the trial: your first bill arrives when the 14 days are up, not before.
Checkout is hosted by Stripe, and so is every payment step after it. FlockConnect never asks for card details inside the app, so your payment information stays with Stripe. One more guardrail: each church holds one subscription at a time, so checkout will not start a second plan if your church already has a live one.
What do we get while trialing?
Full access to the plan you picked, for the whole trial. A trialing subscription opens the same features as a paid one, so the 14 days show you exactly what you would be paying for. Which features those are depends on the plan, and the active-adult billing guide lists what each plan includes.
While the trial runs, the billing page shows your plan with its trial status and the date your first bill would arrive. It also shows an add-payment-method button that opens the Stripe portal directly on the payment method screen, so you can add or update a card whenever you like.
When does the reminder email arrive?
About three days before the trial ends, every account owner gets a reminder email. The subject says how many days are left, and the email links straight to your billing page, so the end of the trial never sneaks up on you.
The reminder says what this guide says: add a payment method now and you will not be billed until the trial ends, and if no payment method is on file when the trial ends, the subscription is canceled. FlockConnect sends that reminder once per trial, not as a stream of repeats.
What happens when the trial ends?
With a payment method on file, your card is billed for the first time and your plan continues, renewing automatically until you cancel. With no payment method on file, the subscription is canceled rather than charged, so letting a trial lapse never produces a surprise bill.
Changed your mind partway, or picked the wrong size? Switching plans, updating your payment method, reviewing invoices, and canceling all happen in the Stripe-hosted customer portal, which the billing page links to. If anything about your trial looks off, contact support and we will help you sort it out.
